Packages & Letters
Making real connections
Getting packages and letters from sponsors is one of the highlights of the year for the children! They love hearing updates and seeing photos from their sponsors. Our goal is to take letters on each 58ten trip. Packages have been a bit tricky since the pandemic but we are hoping to start them back up soon.
Letter/Package Collection Details will be sent to you via email and posted on our social media as well.
As you write and collect pictures, please keep in mind the following:
Letters:
- Deadline: mm/dd/yy
- One page letter (front and back is ok)
- 3-4 hard copy pictures if sending through mail
- The children who are in class 6 or beyond are fairly fluent in English
- The children who are in class 6 or beyond are fairly fluent in English
- Ask questions! You can ask anything about their family, school, life at the home, etc.
- Do not include personal contact information (phone, address, email, etc.)
- They want to hear about your life! Tell them about your family, your work, etc. If you have young children, involve them in the letter process…the kids love getting drawings from other children!
Packages:
- Gifts should be packaged in a sealed 9 x 11.5 manila envelope.
- The child’s full name and your name should be on the outside of the envelope
- Suggested gift ideas (you do not need to give all of these things & feel free to be creative as you learn more about the child you are sponsoring):
- Toothbrush/paste
- Bar soap
- Socks & knit hats
- Pens, pencils, markers, etc.
- Notebooks & journals
- Small books & devotionals
- Educational toys
- Hard candy & gum
- Jump rope, soccer ball (deflated), Frisbee, etc.
- Flip flops/sandals (once you ask them in a letter to trace out their foot so you can know their size)
- Do NOT include:
- Money
- Soft candy, such as chocolate
- USA paraphernalia
- Cameras or other electronics
- Immodest family photos (like beach vacation pictures)
- Magazines that are not family oriented
